2 perfect miles

January 22, 2011

Good afternoon friends. Sorry I didn’t get around to posting earlier. Today is a pretty low key day. I did my fitness, I ‘m cleaning (maybe) and working on my politics reading. Not the most fun sunny Saturday but it will be an efficient one.

Breakfast

My dad, mom, me and the brother headed out in search of breakfast at 8am. Jaemen wanted some Black Bear Diner. He just got his learners permit at the DMV and as we pulled out of the driveway I asked him if he wanted to drive and he said yes!

Okay it wasn’t that bad. We made it in one piece. We even drove a mile on the freeway. Good Job Jaemen!

At the Black Bear I ordered coffee and the two egg breakfast which comes with two eggs, country potatoes and a biscuit. I had my eggs over easy and topped them with salt, pepper and Tabasco sauce.

They had cool flavored coffee creamers on our table. There was Hazelnut and Vanilla. I tried vanilla.

I’m not a big fan of flavored coffee all the time. But it is fun for times like this. The Delights are pretty good. I’ll have to keep my eye out for them.

I love the biscuits at Black Bear. I normally order sourdough toast but I have to break down and get the colossal biscuit when we eat here. I had half with butter and strawberry jam.

I shared half my breakfast with my mom. She gobbled up one of the eggs, the other half of the biscuit and a little less than half the potatoes. I like the potatoes so much I ate more than my fair share.

Fitness

Luckily Jaemen road home with my mom so I got to drive. Sigh of relief. He did do a really good job, but I love my car and I was slightly worried for it’s safety a few times.

I decided to run from my house to the high school via a downtown coffee shop and meet my dad there for Varsity practice. The run was awesome, so much easier than earlier this week. Yesterday’s rest day was definitely needed.

I ran through my favorite part of Salinas. This is my dream house.

At the end of my run I got a large iced coffee with non-fat milk and sugar at the Cherry Bean. Then I walked over to the high school. Great way to end a run!

After practice I went home to get in my reading. But not before a little meal.

Lunch

My breakfast was so huge I didn’t eat a mini morning meal. And I was still a little full so I made a little cobb inspired salad for lunch.

Some simple hearts of romaine with a half hard boiled egg, some diced turkey breast and crumbled up bacon. I added some fresh cracked black pepper and some blue cheese dressing. Some super thin pretzel crisps from the Snack Factory on the side.

I’m catching a shower then I’m hard core hitting the books. I’m hoping to get enough done so I can hang out with Emily tonight, but I need to be a speed reader all afternoon.

Question of the Day

How are you spending your Saturday?

YAY! Good job! :) I went on an 8-mile run with my sis this morning and then when I got outta the shower, her and my bf were making eggs and pancakes for lunch! Now I’m just being lazy :) BTW, it was 20 degrees on my run! I ran in four shirts and two pairs of tights, haha!

Good luck with your studying! I just got home from an 8 mile walk, which was somewhat unintentional…. I just kept walking along the coastal trail until it occurred to me that I should probably turn around at some point, because I still had to walk home. I had gotten almost all the way to Lover’s point from my apartment!

No going to lie… scary! Seriously. I didn’t know he hadn’t driven through town at all yet. And I took him on the highway. Gah.
