A Stichless Sweet Friday

September 10, 2010

Happy Sweet Friday Everyone! I had the most amazing treat this afternoon, I can’t wait to show you the pics ;-). I’m glad most of you like Emily Blunt and liked The Young Victoria too, I’m a sucker for period movies like that, Pride and Prejudice, and The Duchess. For the record, Pride and Prejudice is the answer to every man who wants to understand women! We are not complicated, all the answers are in that Jane Austen Book!

Anyways today’s post is going to be a little bit different, I’m not going to share all my eats only my treat, because my mom took about a million pictures of me at the doctors office this morning and I think some of them are pretty funny so I’m taking the space to show you pictures!

Doctor’s Appointment number 2

I took both a vicodin and a zanex this morning in anticipation of pain and anxiety from stitches removal. I was so nervous I didn’t even really feel that relaxed with massive drugs in me.

Waiting… waiting… waiting…

IMG_0191

First things first, have to take off the purple cast. They use a saw to take them off, it’s rather scary.

IMG_0194 IMG_0196

It was pretty involved, I was worried it would never come off. This is the saw they use to take off casts… it looks pretty legit!

IMG_0201

They tell you that this saw can’t cut through your skin because your skin isn’t tough enough, while the cast is really tough so it will cut through the cast. I don’t care who you are, once you see that puppy get turned on and placed on your cast, your heart skips a beat and you pull away.

Finally out, but stitches still in.

IMG_0199 IMG_0200

I was okay until this point, but this is what happened when the doctor came in complete with latex gloves, scissors and tweezers to remove my stitches.

IMG_0207 IMG_0206

Okay, I’ll admit, I was being somewhat of a baby. It didn’t hurt that bad, only in one spot and even then it was pretty minor.

IMG_0209 IMG_0211

Instantly I was a happy camper after they were out. Everything I was dreading in this whole process is over! It’s only clear skies from here, I hope.

IMG_0213

Looks pretty darn good I think!

IMG_0216

Mom and I noticed I have some pretty intense biceps and arms muscles from crutching!

IMG_0217

IMG_0218

I had to get a good look at my soon to be Awesome scar before he wraps it all up again. I can’t wait to show this one off… such a great battle wound ;-). After about 5 minutes from stich removal my pain meds and anti anxiety pill really caught up with me and I was loopy/sleepy/done!

IMG_0223 IMG_0222

I was fighting off sleep, until Mom had the brilliant idea to do a comparative picture between my normal foot and my swollen one.

IMG_0225

It’s pretty swollen, but not too bad. The doctor thought it looked so good that we’re skipping 2 whole weeks of un weight baring casting and going straight to a walking cast! I chose black this time, I think that color choice was partly drugs talking.

IMG_0227

IMG_0230

All the drugs and the lowering of my stress level made me feel like puking for about 5 minutes!

IMG_0231

Good old back from the doctor’s photo. I was feeling so loopy getting from car to door was a little bit of a challenge.

IMG_0232 IMG_0233

I laugh every time I see these pictures. After I finally made it inside I slept off my meds all afternoon and when I woke my mom drove me all the way over to Monterey for some Self Serve Frozen Yogurt from MYO!!! Best Mom Ever!

IMG_0237

I chose a combination of Coconut and Tart frozen yogurt topped with blueberries, blackberries, strawberries, and raspberries. I sprinkled a little coconut over the top with some almonds. Mmmm!

IMG_0240 IMG_0242

Since it is sweet friday a few of these mini peanut butter cups snuck into my bowl!!!

IMG_0241

And as usual it was just this good! Lick your bowl clean!

IMG_0243

What did you have for sweet friday? Have you ever had stitches out? Have you ever been loopy on prescribed drugs?

See ya’ll tomorrow!

I am such a baby when it comes to stitches. I split my chin open a few times growing up and I hated having to go back to the doctor to get them out. You, my dear, are a very brave woman. Your poor foot is going to be all better soon, I promise! And I think that yogurt is an excellent way to celebrate sweet friday. I indulged in a fig spice cake!

Hurray! See, it wasn’t that bad at all!
For sweet friday I had some of my boyfriend’s birthday carrot cake!

I think you actually increased my anxiety by seeing all these photos. haha. Glad it went well though, aside from the pain and the almost puking. So awesome you have such a great mom!

Ohh my, that looks like it was an ordeal! At least there was froyo at the end of the tunnel :) I’ve only been loopy from getting my wisdom teeth taken out. When they woke me up I was muttering all sorts of crazy things and could barely make it to the car. I felt drunk! (Haha, I had originally put crunk. That too)

Ahahahaha I love the pix of you; they made me giggle! =D

I have never had stitches OR a cast, though I have broken my arm, a toe, and fractured a few other body parts. I broke my arm right below the shoulder socket or whatever that’s called, so I couldn’t get a cast; I was in a sling for six weeks!
I didn’t actually find out I’d broken my toe until after it healed; I was having my ankle X-Rayed and the dr could see that it had broken and healed itself crookedly. So yes. Those are my exciting injury stories.
