Hi guys! Boy do I feel awful. So I’ve been getting tweets and emails up the yeehoo because so many of you were subscribed to the bad rss feed (feeds.feedburner.com/simplymaren). I know that feed died and because it “died” there is no way for me to go in and delete it, edit it, or even get a list of the people subscribed.

Okay… now that we have that out of the way. This post is about to get 8 ways of random. Not 7, 8!
I’ve cooked a few times and I have 3 recipes for ya… they will be in my usual recipe form at the bottom of the post.
- Tofu Thai Red Curry
- Sweet Potato and Apple Soup
- Habanero Mac & Cheese (baked!)

I also have about a million photos of the new apartment. I took them last week and the apartment has changed so much since then, but I’ll post a few anyways. I’m just so proud of my little loft.
Max and I did our first trip up to Wine Country last Friday. We did wine tasting at 3 wineries and ate at the Girl and the Fig.
No… that’s not me, haha. It looks kinda like it though.
So at the Girl and the Fig Max and I split the fig and arugula salad. I’ve been on a major arugula kick these days. It was amazing and I’m planning on recreating it in my own little kitchen most afternoons for my lunch.
For our entrees I got cray-cray and ordered the Pork Belly Sandwich!!!!
What?! Maren ate pork belly!!!
It was on a brioche bun (holy god delicious) with a citrus aioli, more arugula and fennel. And the french fries were so skinny and perfectly crunchy.
I’m dreaming about this lunch. I had my waiter recommend a glass of white wine that would go well with my sandwich. It was a dry-er white wine with a little bit of apple-fruityness. It wen’t perfectly with the pork belly.
Eating at The Girl and The Fig is on my life bucket list. For some reason I just always really wanted to eat there. It was so much fun. Max and I both really liked it and we want to go back.
Second random tangent…
I made sweet potato and apple soup in Louis. It also has parsnips in it and with a few crumbles of blue cheese on top it’s kinda re-donkulous how good it is.
This brings me to my quasi-fourth random tangent…
I’m still falling into a routine here. It’s a new city to me and I’m starting a new job tomorrow. My work schedule isn’t the usual Mon-Fri 9-5. And Donner is finally starting to get back to his usual mellow(ish), independent(sometimes) self. The last 1o days have been really difficult with Donner. Anyways I’m trying to wait and see how life falls into place and how blogging fits in.
I’m doing so much cool stuff maybe I need to get back to posting a few times a day. I don’t know… we’ll just have to wait and see.
5th Random Tangent-
I start my new fancy job tomorrow. I work Wednesdays & Thursdays 10am to 5pm. Fridays 12pm to 5pm and Saturdays 12pm to 6pm. I also get 1 Saturday a month off.
I can’t wait to start. I think it’s going to be so much fun. Ahh… sigh.
The thai red curry was kinda out of this world and Max thought I’d bought takeout and told him I made it. BOOYEAH!
I really need to make that again. So tasty.
Well… Max put up a few shelves in the kitchen so we could put our dishes on those instead of taking up limited cupboard space. As I wrote this post the shelves fell down and all the dishes broke. Now I have Donner leashed and hooked to the bed so he wont wonder down into the kitchen, which is covered in broken glass.
