chi-chi-chi-chia!

May 29, 2012

Happy Tuesday. And happy new week!

SCORE! I love short weeks like this one. I’m in such a good mood this morning I made oatmeal! I know, crazy.

I was gone most of the weekend but I did get in 2 posts last night:

Breakfast

This oatmeal should be called complete all your healthy guidelines oatmeal. Here’s why:

  1. I got a whole serving of fruit :-)
  2. I got a serving of omega-3 good fats (chia seeds!!!) :-D
  3. I got a 1/2 serving of protein and good fats (almond butter) ;-)
  4. I got a carb fix from yummy good carbs… oats!

This oatmeal definitely packs a nutritious punch!

I also had my mug of magic hot lemon water. Drinking 1 mug of hot water with the juice of half a lemon squeezed into it is really healthy for your stomach and digestive system. The digestive system sort of turns off at night because we’re all fasting between dinner and breakfast. Drinking this water first thing in the morning cleanses the intestines and stomach while turning them back on so they wont be attacked/surprised with huge bowls of nutritious oatmeal just after waking up.

Holy delicious and huge bowl of oatmeal. I could only eat half. I’m not too much of a breakfast eater. Next time I’ll 1/2 the oats to 1/4 cup.

This entire bowl of oatmeal is around 300 calories!!

Clean Eating Progress: Week 1

Well I’d be lying if I said I was hating it… ;-)

I’m having so much fun cooking. I found some really yummy, quick and easy recipes like Chicken with Veggies and a Homemade Vinaigrette, Chili Crusted Cod, and Noodle-less Chicken Noodle Stir Fry.

I finally really nailed down what aggravates my stomach and intestines. It’s simple sugars! I need to avoid sugar and sugary things. I also need to avoid simple carbs and switch them with complex ones like oats, whole grain bread, basmati rice, and brown rice. Even after just a week of new clean eating my intestines are the happiest they’ve been in a while. I even had a few splurges along the way.

My body feels all around better. I’m trying to start running again and I have a 1/2 Marathon I’m starting to work toward in September.

I think I felt so bad for so long before I didn’t realize how badly I felt. It made it hard to motivate myself to eat healthy nutritious meals. Knowing I’ll feel really great is some HUGE motivation. I’m really excited for another week, some more recipes, and a lot more fitness and fun.

Tell me about !!! I want to know…

What is something you cant eat because it makes you feel bad?

red wine

Did you make a really good recipe this weekend? Leave me the link!!!

If Lokey (from the Avengers) had stolen you and an Avenger was coming to rescue you… which one would you hope for??

… Thor!

I have a hard time motivating myself to make those changes that would make me feel better so I am super inspired by you jumping right in and sticking it out. I am impressed by all your eating that is delicious and simple.

I did too because I never felt better when I made the changes. But really nailing down what has made me feel so bad really helps because now I can tell I feel better. I know you can do it!!!

No yummy recipes. Went a little crazy on junk food actually. But I generally eat the bowl of oatmeal alomost everyday, like yours, though I don’t cook it since I am lazy or rushed for time. haha. How long does it take you to cook the oatmeal?

Clean eating starts for me today. Stomach issues came back over the weekend with all the cheese and processed carbs I ate. :\

If Loki kidnapped me, I actually might just want to stay with him. I find him oddly attractive and sexy in a bad ass way. ^_^; If I had to hope for an Avenger. . . the only one that could take him on would be Thor or Hulk. Thor it is.

Ohh is that how you spell it? Loki? He was oddly attractive, I can totally see that.

I’m sorry your stomach issues came back. That’s such a bummer. Hopefully after a few days of nutritious eats you’ll feel like a million bucks again.

The only thing I made this weekend is red sangria…and judging by the answer to your question of what foods make you feel bad…I am not going to leave you the recipe :(

I love your oatmeal recipe and the colorful photos too! Such a nutritional punch/start to the morning.

No great recipes for me this weekend, but I did have a good protein pancake this morning from CarrotsnCake blog!

One Avenger!? so hard to choose…. i would probably have to go with Iron Man tho..what a silver fox!

I can really tell a difference in my stomach drinking it hot. I hope you like it. And Tina’s protein pancakes are pure heaven.

Oh noo that is terrible about red wine! Boooo but I am sure you will find something else out there that is pretty tasty and oh so fun as well ;)
Not that broccoli is really the equivalent of red wine, but I sure can’t eat that without suffering some serious stomach issues!

Lots of people have a hard time with broccoli I’m realizing. The red wine kinda stinks, but I can still have white so that’s a plus.

Mmm…love the bowl of oatmeal! I’ve got a bowl of premade oats/quinoa flakes/cream of rice waiting to be jazzed up for tomorrow’s breakfast with chias, ricotta and tons of fruit. And happy news about your guts! Speaking of happy news, some to share with you: I’ve FINALKYbeen able to get back to working out normally a d have started the bikini body circuit. I totally see what you mean: looks simple, but I totally work up a sweat and feel the burn. I’ve been combining it with some kick-butt interval training from Self magazine, and so far, so awesome!

Ooo how fun! I’m so glad you’re back to working out. That first month of circuits is crazy hard. But May’s are way easier. Don’t fret.
