Happy Father’s Day

June 17, 2012

If there are any Father’s stopping by today…

Happy Father’s Day to YOU!

I started off this Father’s Day with a quick little 1 miler.

I did break my streak last week, which is such a bummer. I ‘m really sad about it. But I picked it up right where I left off. In the grand scheme of things, taking one day off between Memorial Day and Labor Day isn’t too bad and is definitely still an awesome accomplishment.

Lunch

My family and Grandma headed over to Moss Landing for our special father’s day lunch.

Dad really likes a seafood restaurant called Sea Harvest. It has a beautiful sunroom and sits right on the water.

We were entertained by sea lions playing in the marina! They were jumping and playing together. It was like being at Sea World.

It was really sunny in Salinas but totally fogged in in Moss Landing. Such a bummer since I wore shorts. Typical coastal situation.

We decided to open presents before our food came.

Dad was pretty lucky this year. He received a LOT of loot.

  • a new wallet, belt and dress shirt
  • bbq rib smoking rack and wood chips
  • and a very special shirt from me

Dad and I really like Swamp People on History Channel. It’s a weekly ritual that CANNOT be interrupted. Do not call Thursday nights at 6pm!

Even though my gift was the BEST… I think he liked his new wallet more.

Ohh Dad…

Perfect timing by our waitress. As soon as the last present was opened our calamari appetizer and drinks came out.

I chomped a few tentacles, and enjoyed some hot tea.

I ordered one of the Specials… Sea Bass.

It had a artichoke and sun dried tomato salsa on top and was laid over a bed of herby roasted red potatoes. It came with a mixed green salad with Italian dressing.

I love sea bass!! The fillets are always so big. The meat is a little more robust than tilapia and other white fish which was perfect with the stronger flavors from the artichokes and sundried tomatoes.

I sopped up every bite of this plate.

We all enjoyed fresh catches.

  • Dad had paella which smelled amazing (love saffron)
  • Mom had the teriyaki fish kebab
  • Grandma had the fish and chips with halibut instead of the usual cod
  • Jaemen had the sword fish.

I think everyone was pretty happy with their meals.

What better way to celebrate Father’s Day than with food!

The Black Smoothie {of deliciousness}

DSCN0131

I skipped breakfast this morning since I wasn’t hungry. I think all my snacking yesterday filled me up. This afternoon I made a really nutritious smoothie with almond milk, water, GREENSuperFood chocolate mix, 1 scoop vanilla SPIRU-tein, and a packet chocolate almond butter.

I’ll admit I got a little ingredient happy. I just kept adding things to my little blender bottle.

It didn’t look too pretty, but it tasted beautifully delicious!!

I don’t like seafood. Other than that, it looks like a great Father’s Day. :)

Yeah, hopefully I can finish out the streak. Today I already have a major scheduling problem and I don’t think I have a minute to get a mile or two in.

Ah! The SeaHarvest! We go there all the time, in typical north county weather. That or Whole Enchilada. ;) And I just had the Amazing Grass packet last week! That wallet does look pretty soft.

I’m looking at your pictures and envisioning you standing on the chair taking pics from above. Isn’t family great? They don’t even care that we are all crazy obsessive picture takers. Love it!!

Okay here is where things get embarrassing because I’m a little sensitive about my height (I’m ALWAYS the tallest girl in the room, and usually as tall as half the guys)… I don’t have to stand on a chair. I just stood up.

ha! Don’t be embarrassed!! I’m sure the table was just really low ;-) LOL. I’m such a shorty that I would have to def stand on a chair to get that good of a picture. Or just put my hands over my head and not see what I’m getting a pic of. And that would just be weird. I might do it though anyway. Hmmm…
