No seriously, guess.
Maren’s Morsels is 1 year old today!
wow. Can you believe it? I can’t. I feel like the year has gone by so fast.
Maren’s Morsels has changed a lot over the years. Take a look.
This is the original Simply Maren at simplymarenblog.blogspot.com. I switched to WordPress a little after starting because I quickly saw that WordPress had a little bit easier to use platform and allowed for more options.
This was simplymaren.wordpress.com. I blogged here from February 2010 to May. I really liked this little blog. It was simple, I made my banner with a stock image and a banner-maker online. On this blog I started blogging everything I ate and Simply Maren changed from a simple living (stress free) blog to a foodie healthy living blog.
How did I get my own domain? Well I finally braved my fear and told/showed my dad my blog one Saturday. And he became really into it. He noticed that the next step in blogging was to have my own domain so together we purchased simplymaren.com for 3 years in May. This is what it looked like right after switching.
I think most of my readers remember it when it looked like this. I grew a lot once I had my own domain. I joined up with Foodbuzz too. This was my blog from May to mid-september. I had ankle surgery in that time and working on up dating just wasn’t in the cards. But come September I took some of my blogs revenue and bought a professional do-it-yourself theme and now it’s what MaMo is now.
I’m not sharing all the little tweaks I did from September to January because I had no knowledge of css coding. Most of what I was doing was playing around and learning how to use it.
I know, I did a lot of changing in a year. But I was constantly learning new fun things to add and I was trying to make this blog perfect. It finally is. I switched the blog name in November because Simply Maren had absolutely nothing to do with food. I had done so much growing from when I started the blog that I needed to leave all of that behind and move forward. So Simply Maren became Maren’s Morsels. I do plan on buying the marensmorsels domain at some point but that’s probably still in the far off future.
Happy Birthday MaMo!
I have a very special oatmeal recipe I’ve been saving just for today!
Vanilla Spice Oatmeal
recipe from Liv Life
- 3 1/2 cups water
- 2 cups rolled oats
- 1/2 cup raisins
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp vanilla
- ground nutmeg
- ground cinnamon
- brown sugar
Wow this was a great oatmeal. When I saw it on Liv Life’s blog I really wanted it. But knowing my birthday was coming I decided to save it for a special birthday treat. I even used my new bowl from yesterday’s trip to Sur La Table.
I also used my new coffee grinder from the trip to make my coffee. It worked like a dream. I used it when people were still sleeping and it didn’t wake anyone up.
I paired my vanilla spice oats with some coffee with a splash half & half mixed with milk and a shake cinnamon. I like spicy coffee and I thought it would go so well with the oats.
Beware! This recipe makes a million servings so if you know any ways to save oatmeal, please let me know.
I really like this recipe, maybe I’ll work on an individual serving soon.
Bye guys have a great MaMo day!
