As Porky the Pig Says “Thanks A lot Folks!”

August 19, 2010

Thank you so much all my wonderful readers who left me encouraging comments. They really helped me the last week. Even though I was doing absolutely nothing in the Blog World, I was checking my e-mail every few days. It felt so nice to have kind words coming from all corners of the world. Thank you to all of you who were praying and thinking of me last Friday.

So what’s been happening this last week? Well I’ve been sicker than a dog, unfortunately. The meds have made me sick in just about every way possible, so eating was either not happening at all or in very small bland quantities. Meals of 4 saltines don’t get you very far.

But today I finally feel like we might be getting to a pretty good recoup place. My ankle is happy, my tummy is decent and I actually ate something that minimally resembled lunch, so I broke out the camera and decided it was time to get back to blogging. Of course I found some pictures from the last week when I downloaded the pictures from my memory card.

The last day standing on two feet for a while. I couldn’t resist taking a few pictures of my old ankle… for posterity :-D .

Came home to more flowers and two balloons  I was so surprised! Daisies are my favorite.

This was Saturday Morning. We didn’t get home from surgery until about 7pm, so this is about as ‘fresh off the chopping block’ as they come ;-) .

This is my view between 15-20 hrs a day depending on how much sleep I get. It hasn’t been too much until lately.

Ankle Surgery Days +0 through +6

CONDENSED!

First I was in so much pain because my nerves were waking up from the local anesthetic, I was crying and saying “I can’t take it, Give me more drugs”. Seriously worst pain of my life. Then I put my ankle in a down write position and it was better wheew. Next I watched some “Friday Night Lights” in the midst of tears “It hurts!”. My dad said “I’m sorry”. I ate 1 slice of whole wheat toast with nutella times about 5 (over the course of 2.5 days) then I was sick. Blech! Crutching to the bathroom with fear of not making it… scary! Then I cried and said “Why is this happening to me”. I finally felt some difference when I took the pain meds, thank god. I didn’t eat anything for fear of being sick for almost 2 days, bad choice… weak. Then my cast was too tight too tight! Doc said keep it on, toes aren’t blue. My mom made me this gross strawberry nutritious drink with rice milk that I drank but was yucky. I finally started to feel better.

Lunch

White rice and miso soup is stomach settling. Did you know that miso soup has natural probiotics in it?!

I wanted to tell you all that I am going to have a guest post on The Healthy Apron next week, but I don’t know the date yet, so keep your eyes peeled so you can check it out. I can’t wait to catch up on all your adventures on your blogs.

I have been worried about you, and I’m so glad to hear that you are on the mend. I figured that you were having a rough recovery, and I’ve been praying for you all week long. I’m glad you were able to get something on your stomach…it’s amazing what a real meal can do!

Daisies are my favourite flowers, too! They’re so perky and happy looking. :) I’m sorry about all the pain issues–your mom was uber trooper this weekend bugging all the labs for your test results!
