Kick off the detoxing with a 6 mile run. What?!

July 1, 2012

Hi guys! How has your Sunday gone?

Normally Sundays around here are chore day. I do laundry, actually make my bed (so it gets made once a week…), run errands, tidy up my room from the week’s chaos. It’s not glamorous at all.

But today I started off with a 6 mile run from my 1/2 Marathon Training Plan.

Before my run I had a mug of hot magic lemon water. I’m doing a detox off sugar again and today is day 1. I gotta get all my healthy guidelines checked off.

DSCN0456

Max came in to be my moral support during the 6 miles. We did an out and back and I was definitely tired the last mile.

I might have ran pretty slow, but I didn’t walk at all!

DSCN0461

BAM! Look at that awesomeness.

We rehydrated with some coconut water.

Brunch

Sunday is also family brunch day. We always have lunch together. We went to Portobellos which is a fun little breakfast, lunch and wine bar.

Since I’m 198% back at clean eating starting today, I had my go-go diner breakfast. Skipping the toast and topping everything with salsa.

DSCN0462

Coffee. 2 eggs. 2 strips of bacon. Potatoes.

Potatoes are technically a splurge since they are a simple carb and break down to sugar really quickly. But, I don’t mind having a potato or a legume as long as I’m strict with the other simple carbs.

DSCN0464

And I just really really really love potatoes. You can’t give up the stuff you LOVE!

Lunch

Max and I ran a few errands around town and literally an hour and a half after leaving brunch we were eating lunch. 6 miles will do that to ya.

DSCN0467

We like to keep the cooking to a minimum on weekends. No dishes!!!

Chipotle veggie bowl with black beans, fajita veggies, hot salsa, medium salsa, lettuce and guac.

Under 400 calories.

DSCN0468

The errands totally tuckered us out! So we spent the afternoon quasi napping on the sofa and eating healthy snacks.

I keep checkin’ off those healthy guidelines. Fruit, healthy fats, green tea, and lots and lots of veggies.

DSCN0476

Oh… and you can’t forget the dark chocolate.

DSCN0482

Would you believe me if I told you I already feel better? My body is jumping for joy.

Dinner

It was fend-for-yourself night.

DSCN0477

I heated up some Roasted Red Pepper & Tomato soup for starters. Then I microwaved a veggie burger and topped it with 2 heaping handfuls of broccoli slaw and some Annie’s Goddess dressing.

DSCN0479

I bought this entire place setting on clearance at Target yesterday. It was under $15 dollars!!!

DSCN0480

I’m a sucker for a deal. ;-)

But they’re so cute so I didn’t get suckered in too much.

Healthy Guideline Checks:

  • 2 servings healthy fats!
  • 1 serving fruit
  • lots and lots of veggies
  • swapped out bad carbs
  • 2 servings green tea
  • exercise at least 30 minutes

Still need…

  • 1 serving tea
  • 1 serving fruit
  • 2 servings probiotics (I have to go buy some at the market!!!)

Doin’ pretty darn good!

Tonight we’re watching the Women’s Gymnastic Finals to see who will be on the olympic team!

Only 26 more days until Opening Ceremonies!!!

Have a great night all!

Great job on the run today!!!! For the record, I didn’t have coconut water as I don’t enjoy it.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen Max comment, but I love that he clarified that he didn’t have coconut water. I also don’t enjoy it. Maybe I just haven’t had a good one. Though, it’s good in smoothies!

HAHA yeah, he was very appalled that I included him in the coconut water when he hates it.

I personally think coconut water is gross, but my 84 year old grandfather drinks it everyday!

I didn’t realize so many people don’t like it, but apparently it’s a touchy one.

Looks like a perfect get back on track day! Topped off with a 6-mile run! You are awesome! I love all the veggies and I love how you still don’t skimp on the things you love :) I watched the gymnastics trials too! It’s the only part of the olympics that I really like to watch! The gymnasts are amazing!

They are! It’s just so amazing the things they can do. We should definitely do clean eating together all month!

you can’t let me go into target, I want to buy everything and anything. it is terrible. way to go getting back into the healthy guidelines. I need to try the lemon water thing especially since my stomach has been hating me.

You should. Drinking the lemon water really helps. But I think drinking hot tea throughout the day really helps too. Hot beverages are awesome for making the tummy happy.

congrats on the 6 miles! haven’t done that since the end of May. Thinking of signing up late for the Jungle Run 10k in los gatos.

Ginger tea and mint are supposed to be great for digestive issues. they’ve helped my stomach when it’s been in crazy flux. i highly recommend them.

can’t wait for the olympics!!

Aw great training! When is your half?

Maren July 5, 2012 at 2:54 pm

Hi Patty. It’s so good to hear from you. Yeah it’s going great. The half is September 2nd in SunRiver Oregon. My family is vacationing here this year so we’re kickin’ off or vacay with a 1/2 marathon.
