Living’ Life… finally!

August 10, 2012

Hey all! I’m so uber sad that I didn’t get a post in yesterday. But work was cray-cray. We have a huge order that has to go out today and we’re really under the gun. 4pm is going to come up way too soon.

Yesterday I decided I’m over this whole not living thing. It’s weird, when my tummy and intestines are freakin’ out I kinda curl up and hide. I quit eating things that aren’t 1 billion percent safe, I don’t push myself to do workouts, or anything strenuous for that matter. It’s like I go half way all day, every day, in every thing.

That’s no way to live.

Yesterday I felt pretty darn good so I decided, I’m over this. I ate some totally yummy food that was pretty safe. I did a great workout. And I feel so much happier about life. If that’s not healthy, I don’t know what is.

Max came in last night to treat me to an after work cocktail. Don’t you just LOVE him?!?! Back off, he’s mine!!!

We went to BJ’s. I had the En{light}ened Mojito, which was perfect. I like ordering cocktails off the ‘skinny’ menus not because they’re less calories but because they aren’t as fake-sweet.

I also had their Chicken Fresca which was awesome and delicious. (see picture above)

photoBefore we went out on the town I did a great workout!!!

I started with a 2 mile jog.

Then I did this (with synchronized swimming playing OnDemand):

  • 3 sets 15 of dumbbell toe touches
  • 2 sets of 12 offset squats
  • 3 sets of 15 bar crunches
  • 2 sets of 15 sprinters
  • 3 sets of 15 reverse hyperextensions
  • 3 sets of 12 lunging step ups
  • 3 sets of 12 romanian barbell deadlifts
  • 3 sets of 12 bar squats
  • 2 sets of 8 walking lunge twists

Then I finished with another 2 mile jog!

BOOYEAH!

Today I had another light breakfast because it’s BBQ FRIDAY!!! We’ll be hitting up Salinas City BBQ for lunch for sure… I’m already drooling.

TELL ME ABOUT YOU!!! I WANT TO KNOW…

WHAT MAKES YOU FEEL BETTER AND MORE ENERGIZED?

living!

WOULD YOU EVER DO STRENGTH TRAINING AT THE GYM NEXT TO AN OBVIOUS BODY BUILDER?

No. In fact I always do all of my strength at home because I’m easily intimidated.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COFFEE?

I like the blueberry flavor my convenience store has.

ARE YOU ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE THAT LIKES TO WEAR MISS MATCHED SOCKS?

NO! NO! NO! I will not do it.

I’m glad you are living again! :) That drink looks too small for me. ha ha ha

I like how that meal looks. I may need to try and recreate!

Yeah it was pretty tiny. Luckily, I’m a light weight.

You should! The meal was awesome.

Espresso is my favorite coffee, and reading a book makes me feel more energized, also singing along to Bruce Springsteen’s songs!

Question: How long do you smoke your tri-tips? How long do you keep them in aluminum foil? Grant and I forgot the exact details. Our last smoked tri-tip was bone dry, so we obviously had our times wrong. We plan to smoke another tri-tip on Sunday, so I am looking forward to your directions for a juicy tri-tip.

Thanks much,

Kathleen

Mine too. I’d rather have an americano than actual coffee.

That mojito looks heavenly, can you believe I have never had a mojito? I want to try one.

You must try them! They’re one of my favorites. The fruit flavored ones are also really really good.

Wowo, that meal looks yummy! So glad to hear you are doing better!!

hate to say it, but i am a mismatched sock girl. I only wear socks when working out, so I just grab two and go. usually they are the same color of shade and style, so people can’t notice.

I wish I could handle doing the mismatched socks… my OCD brain just can’t handle it.

I could never wear mismatched socks! It would distract me all day because I’d be so annoyed about it, haha. I don’t think I could strength train next to a body-builder. I mean, using the machines – yes. But using dumbbells and barbells? Uh uh. I don’t think so. I’d be so nervous that they’d just be staring at me, mentally critiquing my form.

Glad you felt good enough to work out! I hope you get back to normal soon :)

My little sister only wears mismatched socks, its become her signature thing. I could never do it though, the OCD in me won’t let me!

a mojito is my go to summer drink! have been following your blog for a little while and while i don’t have any health issues in the way, bad days always get me down and make me not want to work out and I have to remind myself it (almost always) makes me feel better. Also – strength training is the gym is always hard for me… I play showtunes radio on pandora and it makes me feel better!
