Over night oats that weren’t

July 26, 2011

Good morning guys. How’s your mornings going? Mine has been a little disappointing.

Breakfast

First. Last night I had the brilliant idea to make Over Night Oats. So I mixed some Stonyfield French Vanilla yogurt with rolled oats and some raspberries. It looked really good this morning.

I took one bite and they weren’t that tasty and my body screamed “I don’t want you!”. I thought simple over night oats would be delicious but I guess not.

Weight Loss

I’ve been trying to eat really well this summer and I knew thought I had done a great job this last week. so I stepped on the scale thinking I’d see a drop in my weight. I can even tell I look slimmer in my clothes. But the scale read no change. It might have even gone up a little.

Here’s the deal, I’m not making it my sole purpose in life to lose weight. I’m just trying to eat healthy and light. And the past months I’ve dropped a few pounds, steadily. So after such a great week of light eating I just assumed I’d see something positive on the scale this morning and I didn’t.

I know I’ve been working out a lot more lately and I build muscle really fast. So I probably have gained a few pounds of muscle. I guess the whole experience was a little disheartening. To feel like I did so well and not see any results from it.

Oh well, life goes on!

The Real Breakfast

Old Faithful. A sourdough english muffin, a slice of turkey, fried egg, and a slice of cheese.

I’m off to the office for a morning of work.

Question of the Day

Do you ever feel like you had a great week and just step on the scale because you think you’ll see an uplifting/motivating number?

I’m way picky about my overnight oats. For one, I can’t eat them cold. I don’t care how great everyone thinks they are cold, but it’s not for me. I mean, what’s the point if you don’t have ooey gooey Biscoff spread or nut butter in there? Secondly, I don’t mix yogurt in there. I dunno, it’s like a weird combo. Too bad it didn’t work out, that’s disappointing.

I’ve had them in yogurt before and I liked them. But these were just blah! I’ll have to try the nut butter. And the oats really soak into the butter?

They don’t soak in so much, I usually put hot oats into a nearly empty PB jar to get it all melty, but I typically add a dollop of nut butter and then microwave until it drizzles everywhere. Maybe it’s my consistency that helps, I use less liquid because I don’t like runny oats.

I’ve been on an oatmeal kick lately, but your breakfast sandwich looks so good, I might switch back for a bit! Yum!

Breakfast sandwiches are my go-to breakfast. I guess I’m more of a savory breakfast person.
