Running in year 2012!

Happy New Year everyone!!!

It’s a brand spankin’ new year and I’m kicking it off with a bang. Do you like the new blog design? I absolutely love it. My designer, Chelsey did an awesome job with my new banner!! I think she truly captured my zany-ness. I’m hoping to get in a few more updates in the next week or so but I really wanted to start 2012 with a new look and feel so I revealed early. Just like I may be one of those people who sneaks into her parent’s closet(s) and sees her Christmas presents early. No will power!

This morning I ran the……………..

Rio Grill Resolution Fun Run/Walk 5k

What a great way to kick start official 1/2 Marathon training and a brand new year?! Plus it gave me exactly 35:08 to think about all the things I want to accomplish this year.

The run started a little late, 9am which was perfect since I think everyone was a little 2011 hung over. ;-)

There were tons of people including their dogs and a few little kids. I ran next to a man pushing his toddler in a running stroller and the little guy kept yelling “FASTER DADDY! FASTER!”. Haha, it was hysterical and had everyone in earshot laughing. Especially since he only seemed to yell it while we were running up hill.

And now that we’re talking about hills……. this race had the hugest most-epic monster of a hill! We ran at least half a mile straight up it. I kept looking up ahead thinking OMG! It’s not over!!

I had to walk for exactly 8.9 seconds after I made it up but other than that I enjoyed the entire race and am so glad I dragged myself out of bed to start the new year with a race.

Pre-Race Breakfast and Post Race Brunch

Rudi’s gluten free toast x2 with Justin’s Almond Butter and an awake tea with soymilk.

and I stopped at the ‘bucks for an awake tea with soy. I really think the boost of caffeine helped push me up that hill slightly miniature replica of Everest.

After the race Max and I met up with my Pops for some breakfast. Diner food was the only thing we wanted since we depleted all our food stores on the race.

The Breakfast Club is in Seaside, a small town right outside of Monterey. It’s pretty popular amongst the locals and we barely got a seat before a massive crusade of hungry breakfast goers arrived wanting tables.

I had my go-to diner breakfast. 2 eggs cooked medium, home fries and bacon. I skip the toast. ;-) and I always add some hot sauce.

Max had the hugest banana pancakes we’d ever seen! And he literally ate them all. His tummy has to be 8 ways of Jack Johnson happy……………..

Resolutions for 2012

I’m usually not a big fan of resolutions………. they never seem to actually pan out and I get super blue because I feel like I’ve failed at some HUGE aspect of life. Resolutions are epic people, and hence have epic consequences when they are failed at……… But this year things are different. I don’t actually feel like I have all these things I can improve on in life. I’m pretty darn happy with where things are right now.

Get fit in 2012!!!!!

There it is! That’s it. Voila, one simple little goal to last the entire year. 365 days of sweating, resting from sweating and possibly thinking about sweating. Don’t ya just love sweat?

I want to get back into shape, start making working out more of a focus and eating the right foods to make all that happen. Easy peasy.

I hope you had a great 2011 and are ringing in a fabulous 2012! Party smile

Tell me about you!!!!! I want to know………..

What did you do last night at midnight?

I was sleeping. So not all cool and popular!

What is your number 1 resolution this year?

If you could have any candy right this second, what would it be?

Skittles. A mountain the size of the one I just ran up full of Skittles.

Happy New Year, Maren!
I love the look of the blog! It looks amazing.
I’m terrible at resolutions and don’t even really make them.
I totally fell asleep around 10:30 last night. I’m so cool…

Love the banner!
I was asleep before midnight too- it was awesome!
And if I could have any candy (and not care about the calories) it would be dark chocolate. Always.

Ok…a couple of things: Happy new year! Running is such a great way to start the year. LOVE the new banner….super cool (I’m a little jealous). LOVE the Jack Johnson pancake reference. Last night at midnight I was hangin’ with some friends after a night of games and waaaay too much food and drinking ruby red grapefruit Italian soda :) Top 2 resolutions this year I think would be to figure out what to do with my life and get back down to my goal weight.

Oh girl, 2012 is the year to get down to that goal weight. I believe in you. What a cool drink, ruby red grapefruit Italian soda. Yum.

If I could have any candy, it would definitely be those black licorice snap things. I love them so much!

Congrats on the new blog design… it’s gorgeous. I especially love the bike pic on the far right.

Happy NY, pretty lady! I love having a general “theme” for NY resolutions–makes me feel like I can’t necessarily “succeed” or “fail.”

Maren January 2, 2012 at 9:02 am

Yes, that’s my plan this year general theme so any progress is huge progress.
